Voter Registration

Los Angeles, CA - The Armenian National Committee - Western Region (ANC-WR) has issued a statement encouraging all Armenian Americans who are not registered to vote to do so conveniently at www.anca.org. The ANC-WR is pleased to share that Armenian Americans from all 50 states and the District of Columbia can register to vote on the ANCA's website in as quickly as three minutes.

"All Armenian Americans, whatever their party affiliation, have an obligation to register to vote and participate in local, state and federal elections," stated Andrew Kzirian, ANC-WR Executive Director. "By visiting www.anca.org and clicking on the register to vote button on the left side of the screen, Armenian Americans can empower themselves and participate in the miracle of American democracy," Kzirian added.

According to voting data compiled by experts, voter participation in the United States is nearing an all-time low. In the 1964 presidential elections, 69.3 percent of the voting age population cast a ballot. In 2002, that number was only 54.7 percent. The numbers for midterm elections are worse. During recent midterm elections, only 36.4 percent of the voting age population made it to the polls.

In an ANC-WR internet poll held recently, 86 percent of Armenian American respondents shared that they are registered to vote. A total of 83 percent of the respondents shared that they participate in local, state and federal elections.

The Armenian National Committee - Western Region is the largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots advocacy organization in the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANC-WR advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
