Armenian Americans Support
A Congressional Friend

Norwich, CT -- The Armenian National Committee of Connecticut organized activists from Connecticut and all over New England to hit the campaign trail last weekend to help support a Congressional friend of the Armenian American community.

Although Representative Sam Gejdenson (D-CT), the Ranking Member of the International Relations Committee, was defeated in the November 7 election, ANC activists worked the campaign trail for this long-time friend of the Armenian American community.

Activists not only made phone calls to Armenian American voters in Connecticut's 2nd Congressional District urging them to support Rep. Gejdenson, they also handed out leaflets to voters across Norwich, New London, and Middleton.

Rep. Sam Gejdenson has been a long time advocate of Armenian American issues. Most recently he led the effort in the International Relations Committee to pass the Armenian Genocide Resolution. He has always supported legislation to commemorate and recognize the Armenian Genocide and has fought efforts to lift the ban on aid to Azerbaijan until Azerbaijan ceases its blockade of Armenia and Karabagh.

Rep. Gejdenson has participated in Armenian Genocide Commemorative events in his home state of Connecticut as well as in Washington, DC.

"Rep. Gejdenson has always taken a leadership role on many of the issues about which the Armenian American community cares deeply. We had hoped we could help make a difference for him in this difficult campaign. The ANC was honored to stand by a good friend," stated an ANC of Connecticut representative.

Armenian Americans will miss Rep. Gejdenson's leadership and commitment to justice, and the ANC wishes him well in his future endeavors.
