PASADENA — The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), Pasadena Chapter, once again collected and offered donations for the Pasadena Unified School District’s (PUSD) Families in Transition program. This is the second year ANCA Pasadena has coordinated the holiday drive to benefit Families in Transition.
Families in Transition is a program through the Student Support Programs at PUSD whose purpose is to identify, provide outreach, and connect homeless and transitional students along with their families to appropriate services and assist in stabilizing the student’s environment so that they can grow personally and academically. Some of the students and their families live in resident shelters, motels, or are doubled-up with other family members or friends largely due to financial hardship. Families in Transition offers the students and their families a variety of supplies including food, clothing, school supplies and hygiene products.
Socorro Naranjo Rocha, Senior Community Advocate with PUSD’s Families in Transition stated, “Thank you so much! All of these donations will be helping so many families. We will be preparing our ‘Christmas in July’ gifts with these donations.”
“Working with PUSD’s Families in Transition for the past two years has been a pleasure and we could not have thought of a more worthy organization to donate to during our annual holiday drive. It is wonderful seeing our Armenian community give back to our city, our students, and their families,” stated Chairman Vahe Majarian of the Pasadena ANCA.
The Armenian National Committee of America – Pasadena Chapter is the oldest, largest and most influential Armenian-American grassroots organization of its kind within the City of Pasadena. Founded in 1982, the Pasadena ANCA advocates for the social, economic, cultural, and political rights of the city’s thriving Armenian-American community and promotes increased civic service and participation at the grassroots and public policy levels.
