Armenian American Scholarship Guide

The ANCA is committed to helping Armenian students advance their educations by sharing information about scholarships available at various academic institutions and at different levels of learning. Students are encouraged to apply to all scholarship for which they are eligible. Some scholarships have specific school and field of study requirements. Special thanks to resources made available by The Armenite, Armenian Youth Federation, Armenian Relief Society, Armenian General Benevolent Union, Armenian Student Association, and Armenian Assembly of America.

  • Armenian Bar Association Scholarship Program

      • Description: The Program is designed to support meritorious students of Armenian descent attending, or accepted for admission to, an approved law school in the United States, Armenia or elsewhere. Recipients must demonstrate an outstanding academic record as well as a strong commitment to the Armenian community, particularly in humanitarian and/or law-related endeavors. There are two scholarships available: the Andre Kazangian Memorial Legal Scholarship and the Vicken I. Simonian Memorial Scholarship Fund.

        • Description: Scholarships are awarded to graduate students of Armenian descent who clearly demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Applicants must be enrolled in full-time graduate degree programs (Master’s, Doctoral, Professional) at highly selective colleges and universities in the United States and have achieved a GPA of 3.5 and above, as measured by the American grading system. Individual grants averaging $5,000 USD are awarded annually and are available for a maximum of three (3) years of graduate study. Applicants must submit proof of their financial need in the form of an official school financial aid package.

        • Description: AGBU offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students of Armenian descent (excluding citizens of Armenia studying in Armenia), pursuing study at highly selective colleges and universities outside of the United States. Applicants must be enrolled in full-time degree programs with a GPA of 3.2 and above, as measured by the American grading system scale. Grants of up to $2,000 USD (up to £2,500 GBP in the UK; €2,000 EUR in France) are awarded annually and are available for a maximum of three (3) years of college/university education expenses.
    • Performing Arts Scholarship

        • Description: Scholarships are awarded annually to full-time undergraduate and graduate students of Armenian descent worldwide who are pursuing studies in the field of performing arts and enrolled in highly selective colleges and universities. Citizens of Armenia studying in Armenia are not eligible for this scholarship. However, non- Armenian citizens studying in Armenia are eligible. Applicants must be enrolled in full-time degree programs and have achieved a GPA of 3.2 and above. Applicants must submit examples of their artistic experience in the form of audio/visual recordings for evaluation. Individual grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000 USD. They are awarded to students demonstrating exceptional artistic accomplishment and are available for a maximum of three (3) years.
    • Religious Studies Fellowship

        • Description: The AGBU Helen C. Evans Scholarship is intended to honor Helen C. Evans, the Mary and Michael Jaharis Curator of Byzantine Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was established to recognize exceptional students from around the world pursuing studies in the areas of Armenian art, art history, architecture, and/or early Christianity. Helen C. Evans Scholars are to demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing world-leading research, teaching, dissemination of future work that will help develop the areas of Armenian art, art history, architecture, and/or early Christianity, and related fields. Applicants must be enrolled in full-time graduate degree programs and this scholarship is available for a maximum of three (3) years toward college/university education expenses. This scholarship is open to students of both Armenian and non-Armenian descent.

Students working toward a minor or simply enrolling in Armenian courses are eligible for scholarships administered by the program. Annual renewals are assured for students who continue to enroll in Armenian Studies courses. Available for anyone taking Armenian Studies Program courses and not only for students of “Armenian” heritage. Students pursuing a minor in Armenian Studies are usually guaranteed a scholarship. Each year, several Research Grants are also awarded to ASP students with a high GPA interested in carrying out research in Armenian history, art, or literature under the direction of a faculty member.
