Dear Senator:
I am writing to ask you cosponsor and vote for the adoption of three pro-accountability amendments to the FY22 National Defense Authorization Act.
— The Menendez Amendment (#4177) revoking Presidential waiver authority over Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support Act, in response to evidence that U.S. military aid provided to Azerbaijan under this waiver increased Azerbaijan’s military capabilities, emboldened Azerbaijan’s leaders, and materially aided Azerbaijan’s 2020 attack on Artsakh and Armenia.
— The Menendez Amendment (#4150) requiring a joint State Department and Pentagon report on Turkey’s use of U.S. technology in its Bayrakdar drones, with a special focus on whether their sale to third countries (such Azerbaijan), violates U.S. export laws.
— The Padilla Amendment (#4251) requiring that the State Department and Pentagon deliver a report to Congress, in response to 1) the discovery of U.S. parts in the Turkish drones deployed by Azerbaijan against #Artsakh; 2) Azerbaijan’s use of white phosphorous, cluster bombs, and other prohibited munitions, and; 3) foreign mercenaries recruited by Turkey to fight alongside Azerbaijan against the indigenous Armenian population of Artsakh.
Please do all you can to support the passage of these amendments demanding accountability from the Governments of Turkey and Azerbaijan for the ongoing war crimes committed against Artsakh and Armenia.
Thank you for your attention to my concerns.
Sincerely,
