YEREVAN(Arka) — Armenia, Russia, Iran and Georgia will discuss prospects for laying a joint electric power network in in Tbilisi in, Russia’s Izvestiya reported on Thursday.

It was initially expected that Azerbaijan would send a delegation to the meeting, but Georgia’s Energy Ministry told RIA Novosti that Azerbaijan will not participate in discussion of the project.

Earlier, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said in Tehran after a meeting with his Iranian counterpart that Iran and Russia were negotiating to lay an electricity network for the countries through Azerbaijan and Armenia.

“Indeed, the meeting is scheduled for April, but we can’t indicate a definite date so far,” the ministry’s representative said. “We should remember that Azerbaijan doesn’t cooperate with Armenia and therefore the meeting will be quadrilateral. Georgia’s delegation had already engaged in negotiations over the project in Yerevan, and the talks will be continued in Tbilisi.”
