Armenian Soldier of April War Succumbs to Wounds

YEREVAN—Armenian Soldier Narek Asatryan, 20, who was wounded during the April war in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), succumbed to his wounds Tuesday afternoon.

Aram Asatouryan, Chairperson of the Muratsan Military Hospital in Yerevan, said that Asatryan was severely injured around the head during a mine explosion. “We did all we could for six months to help him recover. However, nothing worked.”

According to various sources, Asatryan never regained consciousness after his injury.

Armenia’s Defense Ministry spokesperson Artsrun Hovhannisyan also commented on Asatryan’s death. “Unfortunately, we were unable to save his life. He is [now] considered a casualty of the April four day war,” he said on his official Facebook page.
