
The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) welcomes students enrolled in university-affiliated Semester-in-Washington programs—such as UCDC—to apply for its University Internship Program. These internships offer students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advocacy, public policy, and communications while advancing issues of importance to the Armenian-American community. The ANCA will collaborate with participating universities to ensure each internship fulfills academic and programmatic requirements.
Location: Washington, D.C.
Type: University-affiliated internship (credit-eligible)
The Legislative Intern will assist the ANCA’s Government Affairs team in tracking
congressional activity, conducting legislative research, preparing policy briefs, and attending
hearings or briefings on Capitol Hill. The intern will gain firsthand experience in federal
policymaking, constituent advocacy, and coalition building.
Responsibilities:
• Research and summarize legislation and policy developments related to ANCA priorities
• Attend and report on congressional hearings, think tank events, and advocacy meetings
• Draft policy memos, correspondence, and reports for internal and public use
• Support grassroots outreach and engagement efforts
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong interest in U.S. politics, international relations, or public policy
• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working or volunteering within the Armenian community
• Familiarity with the political landscape of Armenia and the Armenian diaspora
• Fluency or proficiency in Armenian (spoken and/or written)

The Communications Intern will work closely with the ANCA’s Media and Public Affairs team
to support messaging, outreach, and public engagement efforts. This role offers hands-on
experience in media relations, digital communications, and community advocacy.
Responsibilities:
• Draft press releases, newsletters, and social media content
• Assist with website updates, video projects, and multimedia storytelling
• Monitor media coverage and compile daily news summaries
• Help coordinate public events, briefings, and community outreach campaigns
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Familiarity with social media management and digital engagement tools
• Interest in journalism, public relations, or strategic communications
• Experience or involvement in the Armenian community
• Understanding of the Armenian and Armenian-American media landscape
• Fluency or proficiency in Armenian (spoken and/or written)
