11/01/19 - Rep. Stefanik posted the following to Facebook: "This Week in the People’s House:

This week, I was proud to lead the effort to pass a reauthorization of the Older Americans Act and speak on the House Floor in support. My bipartisan legislation, H.R.4334 – the Dignity in Aging Act of 2019 - updates the law so programs can be more responsive to the needs of seniors, while raising funding levels to keep pace with the growing generation of older Americans. It includes several key provisions from other bills I have led to improve care for individuals with Alzheimer’s, support caregivers, and ensure Holocaust survivors are receiving tailored care for their unique needs.

In addition, I was proud to lead the passage of H.R.2423 - Women's Suffrage Centennial Commemorative Coin Act. My original legislation authorizes the Department of Treasury to mint 400,000 $1 silver coins in 2020 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage and ensures that the suffragists who dedicated their lives to fighting for women’s fundamental right to vote are celebrated throughout the United States. The Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commemorative Coin Act will not cost any taxpayer dollars—all funding will come from the sale of the coins to private citizens.

I was also proud that my original legislation, H.R. 866 – Veteran Treatment Court Coordination Act of 2019, passed the House. This bill gives veterans who commit non-violent crimes while transitioning into civilian life a chance at rehabilitation. It also establishes a program within the Department of Justice, in coordination with the VA, to provide grants, training, and technical assistance to help state, local, and tribal governments develop and maintain veteran treatment courts.

I am proud that all three bills passed on Monday with strong, bipartisan support.

Additionally, the House passed 21 pieces of bipartisan legislation this week with my support, including:

H.R.1306 - Federal Disaster Assistance Coordination Act; H.R.1775 - Notice to Airmen Improvement Act of 2019; H.R.2502 - Transparency in Federal Buildings Projects Act of 2019; H.R.3942 - Preventing Online Sales of E-Cigarettes to Children Act; H.R.4860 - To amend the Securities Act of 1933 to subject crowdfunding vehicles to the jurisdiction of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and for other purposes; H.R.2514 - COUNTER Act of 2019; H.R.4067 - Financial Inclusion in Banking Act of 2019; H.R.1865 - National Law Enforcement Museum Commemorative Coin Act; H.R.2781 - Educating Medical Professionals and Optimizing Workforce Efficiency and Readiness for Health Act of 2019; H.R.728 - Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2019; H.R.647 - Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act; H.R.1781 - Payment Commission Data Act of 2019; H.R.2440 - Full Utilization of the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund Act; H.R.2115 - Public Disclosure of Drug Discounts Act; H.Res.296 - Affirming the United States record on the Armenian Genocide; H.R.4695 - PACT Act; H.R.1623 - Help America Run Act; H.Res.107 - Establishing the Congressional Gold Star Family Fellowship Program for the placement in offices of Members of the House of Representatives of children, spouses, and siblings of members of the Armed Forces who die in the line of duty or certain veterans who die from service-connected disabilities; H.R.4842 - Expositions Provide Opportunities Act of 2019; H.R.2181 - Chaco Cultural Heritage Area Protection Act of 2019; H.R.1373 - Grand Canyon Centennial Protection Act.

The House also passed two pieces of legislation without my support, including:

H.R.823 - Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy Act; and H. Res. 660 – Directing certain committees to continue their ongoing investigations as part of the existing House of Representatives inquiry into whether sufficient grounds exist for the House of Representatives to exercise its Constitutional power to impeach Donald John Trump, President of the United States of America.

I voted No on Speaker Pelosi’s partisan impeachment resolution because it further empowers Adam Schiff and further limits Members of Congress participation in this broken process. Adam Schiff continues to abuse his position of power in the closed, unprecedented, and unfair impeachment depositions and interviews. Speaker Pelosi’s Resolution further empowers Schiff to continue his regime of secrecy from the American public. Every American - no matter your political ideology - deserves transparency from the beginning of this process. And from the beginning Adam Schiff has denied them that." View the Facebook post here.
