10/12/19 - Rep. Higgins posted the following to Facebook: "My thoughts on Turkey’s military offensive. I shared this statement with The Advocate earlier this week after Turkey began hitting civilian zones. I’m also cosponsoring legislation to sanction Turkey for their attacks on the Kurds.

”Turkey is a rogue actor, influenced from within by the rise of Islamic extremism. Their military assault on the Kurds, bombing civilian zones, is an affront to NATO standards and other democratic nations. Turkey’s actions only empower ISIS, further destabilizing the Middle East and threatening American allies in the region. The Kurds have fought valiantly alongside U.S. forces for decades, and the Turkish military offensive should be condemned. I understand President Trump’s desire to bring American troops home, however, all options must remain on the table, including full NATO condemnation, potential military prerogative, and economic sanctions against Turkey.”" View the Facebook post here.
