GLENDALE — Nominated by Council Member Paula Devine, and seconded by past Mayor and current Council member Zareh Sinanyan, the Glendale City Council unanimously appointed Former Chairman and current member of the Board of Governors of the Armenian Bar Association and Co-Chair of its Armenian Rights Watch Committee (ARWC), Garo Ghazarian, Esq. to the Glendale’s Civil Service Commission.

Mayor Ara Najarian expressed his gratitude to the nominee, by stating — “Thank you Garo Ghazarian for volunteering. It’s a thankless job sometimes. In fact, sometimes it’s worse than thankless, it’s a criticized job sometimes, but we appreciate you, you and all the other commissioners that serve our city, all the time, and volunteering.”

Ghazarian is a Criminal Defense Attorney, Law Professor and Dean of the Peoples College of Law in Los Angeles. He is a Board Member of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS) a Think Tank based in Yerevan-Armenia, Board Member of the Mexican American Bar Association-Political Action Committee (MABA-PAC), and serves on boards of several non-profit organizations.

Ghazarian has been serving on the Glendale’s Civil Service Commission since late 2011, when he was nominated by then Council Member Rafi Manoukian (the current City Treasurer of Glendale), and unanimously confirmed by the City Council. This is his 2nd appointment, and it is for another four years on the Commission.
