BEIRUT—Members of the Haigazian University Board of Trustees from the United States joined their Lebanese counterparts for their two-day annual meeting in Beirut, which took place on May 27 and 28.
The meetings focused on the strategic initiatives and the future plans of the University, and constituted the perfect opportunity to study the reports of the President, Deans and various department heads, and listen to students’ experiences.
Afellowship dinner brought together the Haigazian University family and its friends at the Hotel Le Bristol in Hamra–Beirut. Among the attendees were Ambassadors of the USA, Richard Jones, and of Armenia, Samvel Mgrdchyan.
On this special occasion, and in line with its core commitments and values, University President, Dr. Paul Haidostian announced the launching of a new undergraduate major in “Special Education.”
Haidostian reiterated the purpose of the B.A. in Education with Emphasis in Special Education, as being the “track that provides tomorrow’s educators with a more comprehensive academic coverage in line with the global focus on acceptance of diversity and tolerance of differences.”
In their messages, Ambassadors of the USA and Armenia both acknowledged Haigazian University’s unique ties with their respective countries, and they valued its mission and role in fostering intercultural education which is ground based in openness, coexistence, tolerance and critical thinking. They further assured of their continuous support to the University in the future.
