Here is a sample subject line: Removal of Offensive Billboard on I-95 in Philadelphia
Here is a sample letter:
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding a billboard installed on the northbound side of I-95 in Philadelphia (#064056) and requesting it be brought down immediately. It states:
“Azerbaijanis (and Turks) are ready to live in harmony with Armenians. How about Armenians?”
This billboard is offensive to all Armenians because it is spreading harmful misinformation to the public. The language offered by MUSIAD, the organization who purchased the ad, appears peaceful to a person not familiar with the geopolitics, but is in fact a veiled threat to the Armenian community and is intended to incite further conflict and violence.
Towards the end of 2020, Azerbaijan launched an unprovoked war against the ethnic Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) resulting in the death of nearly 4,000 Armenian soldiers and civilians. Taking advantage of a distracted world due to the pandemic and a hotly contested election in the United States, they attacked civilians and infrastructure using illegal weapons such as cluster munitions and white phosphorus.
After Azerbaijan violated multiple ceasefires during the height of the conflict, one has been in effect since November 2020. It has resulted in half of the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh to be displaced. The Azeris, supported by the Turkish government, are not interested in peace in that region. They have yet to transfer more than 100 civilian captives and prisoners of war back to Armenia. Meanwhile, Armenia ensured the immediate release of Azeri captives.
The Turkish government, who is also referenced on this billboard, also does not want peace. In 1915, the Turks systematically annihilated 1.5 million Armenians in the name of Islam. It was Genocide and the Turks killed nearly 75% of the Armenian population at the time. Adolf Hitler credited the Turks when he laid out his plans for the Holocaust, stating “Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”
Again, this billboard is not a message of peace. Please take it down immediately.
I look forward to your response and your swift action in removing this billboard. I would also urge you to be more prudent in your decisions on the type of advertising that you allow to be displayed on your billboards moving forward.
Sincerely,
