YEREVAN (Armenpress) — On March 3 at the Yerevan State University, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian was awarded the honorary title of professor by Academic Council of Yerevan State University during the meeting of the Scientific Council of the University. The Academic Council made this decision unanimously at a meeting on February 11.

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan awarded the diploma of honorary professor to Nalbandian noting that the decision of the Scientific Council was made considering Minister Nalbandian’s prolific social-political activities, achievements in science and long-term productive cooperation with the University.

Minister Nalbandian expressed his gratitude during his speech, after which a Q&A took place with the participation of students and the Academic Council of Yerevan State.

During the Q&A, Nalbandian was asked what he thought of the Turkish Prime Minister’s statements comparing today’s Kurds to Armenian ‘gangs’ of the past cooperating with Russia and how this justifies the actions of Turkey against Kurds.

Nalbandian pointed out that the Turkish Prime Minister’s previous hypothesis stating that the Armenian Genocide was a result of war is a lie. He said, “Ankara officially and publicly announces that, in fact, the genocide against Armenians was intentional and deliberate, because Armenians had collaborated with the Russians.”

He added that the Kurds are in danger just like the Armenian community was during World War I, and this threat should be addressed by the entire international community.

“‘The responsibility falls first and foremost on the Armenians, whom Russia prompted to come out against us.’ These are the words of the Prime Minister of Turkey, but not of Ahmet Davutoglu in the early 21st century, but of Talaat Pasha in the early 20th century, one of the perpetrators of the Armenian Genocide. It is obvious that during hundred years the Turkish ruling elite has not changed much,” concluded Nalbandian.
