YEREVAN (Arka) — According to Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Baku is doing everything it can in order to derail the Karabakh conflict settlement process. Nalbandian discussed Azerbaijan’s actions on Saturday as he met with OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov of Russia, James Warlick of the United States and Pierre Andrieu of France as well as Personal Representative of OSCE CiO Andrzej Kasprzyk.
According to the foreign ministry’s press office, methods for peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict were discussed at the meeting.
Nalbandian also mentioned that Azerbaijan has been ignoring targeted calls of the international community and continues to violate tree-sided ceasefire agreements. In addition, Azerbaijan keeps rejecting mechanisms of investigating incidents and criticizing the OSCE Minsk Group’s efforts to settle the conflict in a bid to change the organization brokering the process.
“This shows that Baku does everything to wreck the settlement process,” the minister said. “More than that – the Azerbaijani side’s conduct and its public refusal to meet with mediators contribute to maintenance of the status quo, to which the co-chair countries and Armenia are opposed.”
Nalbandian said that Armenia and co-chair countries will continue their joint efforts to settle the conflict by peaceful means.
Nalbandian also had a meeting with Victoria Nuland, the US Assistant Secretary of State in addition to the chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the high-level of bilateral relations, stressed importance to the steps undertaken in recent years towards the consolidation of friendly partnership between Armenia and the United States. Nalbandian and Nuland exchanged views on the ways of further development of cooperation in various fields.
Both sides also touched upon pressing regional and international issues as well as the process of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
