Paraguay Senate Recognizes Armenian Genocide, Commemorates Centennial

ASUNCION, Paraguay (A.W.)—The Chamber of Senators of Paraguay (Camara de Senadores) passed a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide, during today’s regular session of the Senate.

The Chamber of Senators of Paraguay (Camara de Senadores) passed a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide, during the regular session of the Senate on Oct. 29.

The Resolution states: “The Senate of the Republic of Paraguay recognizes the Genocide suffered by the Armenian people during the period of 1915-1923, committed by the Ottoman Turkish Empire, and commemorates this year of the Centennial of the crime against humanity.”

The Resolution was presented by Senators Pedro Santa Cruz, Victor Bogado, Arnoldo Wiens, Eduardo Petta San Martin, Carlos Amarilla, Miguel Abdon Saguier, Arnaldo Giuzzio, Roberto Acevedo, and Sixto Pereira.

The Chamber of Senators—with its 45 members— is the upper house of the National Congress. The lower house consists of the 80-member Chamber of Deputies.
