YEREVAN(PanArmenian.net)  — Russia intends to build nuclear power plants in Iran and electricity transmission lines with the country through Armenia and Azerbaijan, Tehran Times cited Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak as saying on Monday, March 14.

Novak made the remarks after meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hamid Chitchian in Tehran.

In the future, Novak said, the two sides would expand their relations by employing modern technologies, sharing experience and tapping into the sources of solar energy which are abundant in both countries and require joint projects for further development.

Chitchian said, in turn, that by the end of the current week, Russia will sign an agreement with Iran to set up a 1400-megawatt thermal power plant in the country.
