Las Vegas—United States Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid invited Andy Armenian, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Las Vegas and 50 local community and nonprofit organization representatives to a meeting at the Las Vegas Federal Building on Thursday, August 13, 2015.

Senator Reid took this opportunity to present the Honorary Consul the statement that he had read on the US Senate floor in Washington DC on April 23, 2015, recognizing the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.

The Senator spoke in length how he has always recognized the Armenian Genocide and consistently supported resolutions in the US Senate to remember the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Honorary Consul Armenian also addressed the gathering and thanked Senator Reid for his continued support and provided a brief update regarding the growing Las Vegas Armenian-American community.

Senator Reid earlier in his June 15, 2015 “Immigrant Heritage Month” press release, had recognized the importance of the growing Las Vegas Armenian community; “Nevada is a particularly vibrant international community. Las Vegas is home to large Latino, Asian, Pacific Islander, and Armenian communities.”
