GLENDALE—The Armenian National Committee of America-Glendale chapter, (ANCA-Glendale), Asbarez News, and Sardarabad Bookstore will co-host a book signing and Q&A session with Mariano Saravia, author of “The Armenian Cry: Chronicles of Genocide in Search of Acknowledgement” on Monday, November 23, 2015, at the Glendale Youth Center at 7:00pm.
The event will welcome renowned Argentinian journalist and author Mariano Saravia in sharing his most recent book “The Armenian Cry: Chronicles of Genocide in Search for Acknowledgement” which focuses on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Argentine State. Saravia’s work utilizes both historical and scientific references in addition to primary sources to uncover the events of the 1915 Armenian Genocide, and the aftermath of its denial by Turkey. The plot sheds light on the first-hand perspective of both victims and survivors, as well as perpetrators, bystanders, and modern-day Armenian Genocide denialism. Saravia defends his thesis through an array of sources such as national archival research from Turkey, Armenia, Germany, and the United States as well as discussions with international scholastic bodies.
Mariano Sarvaia began his career as a journalist at the age of seventeen and has developed his profession in a global context through his studies in Brazil, Canada, Italy, Germany, the Basque Country, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. He has reported on political and economic issues for various media outlets in Latin America, and “The Armenian Cry” officially marks his fifth publication. The book signing will feature a Q & A session moderated by Asbarez editor Ara Khachatourian and will also give audience members an opportunity to gain deeper insight on the author and his commitment to the Armenian Cause.
The ANCA-Glendale, Asbarez News, and Saradarabad Bookstore encourage all community members to attend this unique event on Monday, November 23, 2015, at 7 pm at the Glendale Youth Center located at 211 W. Chestnut St. Glendale, CA 91204.
