Eshoo tweeted "Today on Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day we pray for the 1.5 million Armenians and hundreds of thousands of Assyrians, Greeks, and other Christians who were systematically slaughtered by the Ottoman Empire between 1915 and 1923. To honor my ancestors and all those who perished, I worked for nearly three decades to pass a House resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide, and finally succeeded in October 2019 with a vote of 405 to 11, ending over 100 years of official U.S. silence. This years commemoration is especially poignant because it comes on the heels of Azerbaijan's horrendous ethnic cleansing campaign against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. We must not wait another century to hold Azerbaijan accountable for the crimes it has committed."

The bills we passed in the House fulfill requests made by President Biden last fall and include support for Ukraine in their fight against Putins aggression, aid to Israel after the attacks of Iran and its proxies, and aid to Taiwan facing the threat of a Chinese invasion. Very importantly, the legislation provides billions of dollars in lifesaving aid to respond to the humanitarian crises in Gaza, Ukraine, Armenia, Sudan, and elsewhere and billions of dollars to replenish depleted U.S. stockpiles of military equipment transferred to Ukraine over the past two years."

Eshoo tweeted "It is appalling that Azerbaijan is escalating its seven-month blockade of the Lachin Corridor by prohibiting 400 tons of desperately needed food and medical supplies from entering Artsakh. I strongly condemn Azerbaijans efforts to engineer a man-made humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, and I once again call on the State Department to use all the tools at their disposal to hold the Aliyev regime accountable for their acts of cruelty."

This bill preserves the legacies of my ancestors and all those who perished at the hands of the Ottoman Empire, combats genocide denial, and ensures that future generations learn the lessons of this dark chapter of history."

As Azerbaijans cruel blockade of Artsakh enters its third month, the U.S. must step up our efforts to bring an end to this man-made humanitarian crisis."
