YEREVAN—President Serzh Sarkisian issued a decree Tuesday appointing long-time diplomat Grirgor Hovhannesyan as Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States.
Hovhannesyan will replace Tigran Sargsyan, who last year was appointed to head the Eurasian Economic Commission last year and began his new appointment on January 1.
Prior to his appointment as Armenia’s Ambassador to the US, Hovhannesyan was Armenia’s Ambassador to Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Panama. Prior to that he was Armenia’s Consul General to Los Angeles.
