Amnesty International Demands Lapshin’s Release from Baku

Anmesty International issued a statement on Feb. 10 demanding Russian-Israeli blogger Alexander Lapshin’s release from Azerbaijani authorities.

LONDON, United Kingdom (RFE/RL)—Amnesty International has condemned the extradition from Belarus to Azerbaijan of a Russian-Israeli blogger who has visited Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) Republic in the past and demanded his immediate release from Azerbaijani custody.

In a statement released on February 10, the London-based human rights group said Alexander Lapshin is prosecuted not only for his trips to Karabakh but also his criticism of the Azerbaijani authorities voiced on his Russian-language travel blog.
