Dear Senator:
I am writing with a request of considerable urgency and importance to me and my family — the U.S. humanitarian assistance program to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh).
Please co-sign the Menendez letter encouraging USAID Administrator Mark Green to preserve the life-saving de-mining program in Nagorno Karabakh. The deadline for this bipartisan letter is COB Thursday, August 8th.
This relatively modest U.S. investment represents a powerful American investment in stability – one that saves lives, fosters good-will, and helps create the conditions for a fair and lasting peace. Ending this program – which funds life-saving de-mining work undertaken by the HALO Trust – would be reckless and irresponsible. All the more so because it appears, by all accounts, that the Administration is acting under pressure from the government of Azerbaijan, an authoritarian regime that has no right to meddle in U.S. decision-making.
Thank you for considering our request that you co-sign the Menendez letter in support of the U.S. aid program to Nagorno Karabakh. To co-sign, contact Nadhika Ramachandran (Nadhika_Ramachandran@foreign.senate.gov).
Sincerely,
