ANCA Rapid Responder Letter: Please Co-Sign the Valadao-Sherman Letter on U.S.-Armenia Double-Taxation

Following are the letters that will be sent based on the U.S. Representative’s support for the Valadao-Sherman letter on the U.S.-Armenia Double Tax Treaty.

Letter asking U.S. Representatives to Co-Sign the Valadao-Sherman Letter to Secretary Mnuchin Regarding the U.S.-Armenia Double-Tax Treaty

Dear Representative,

I am writing to urge you to cosign the bi-partisan Congressional letter to Treasury Secretary Mnuchin – led by Represenatives David Valadao (R-CA) and Brad Sherman (D-CA) – asking him to initiate negotiations toward a U.S.-Armenia Tax Treaty, a base-line accord among friendly economic partners that would eliminate the threat of double taxation of firms operating in both jurisdictions.

Progress on this initiative will build upon the 2015 signing of a U.S.-Armenia Trade and Investment Framework Agreement, promoting U.S. regional interests, creating jobs in both countries, reinforcing Armenian independence in the face of pressure from regional powers, and strengthening America’s enduring friendship with the Armenian people.

As the letter to Secretary Mnuchin rightly notes, the existing Soviet-era treaty does not address the increasing complexity of a globalized world and the friendship between the American and Armenian peoples. An updated double tax treaty will play a key role in providing businesses from both countries the ability and incentive to invest in one another.

I appreciate your attention to my concerns in support of forward-leaning leadership in growing the U.S.-Armenia economic relationship. To cosign the Valadao-Sherman letter, please contact Dylan Chandler – Dylan.Chandler@mail.house.gov – in Rep. Valadao’s office.
