Letter to Vice-President Kamala Harris:
Dear Vice President Harris:
As Vice-President and a former U.S. Senator from California, I am troubled that you have remained silent for more than a month about Azerbaijan’s brutal blockade of 120,000 Armenians in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh).
I encourage you to work with the President to take decisive action to help save the Armenians of Artsakh, an indigenous Christian population struggling to survive on the frontiers of global freedom:
— Publicly condemn Azerbaijan’s closure of the Lachin Corridor, Artsakh’s only humanitarian lifeline to the outside world.
— Launch a U.S. humanitarian airlift to Artsakh’s Stepanakert airport and work with USAID to pre-position emergency relief supplies in Armenia for immediate delivery as soon as Azerbaijan lifts its blockade.
— Cut off all U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan, fully enforcing Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support Act, investigating Azerbaijani war crimes, and applying Magnitsky and other sanctions against Azerbaijani officials.
I am closely following the crisis in Artsakh – hour to hour – and look forward to hearing from you regarding both the specific steps you are taking and also the concrete results you are delivering on this urgent matter.
Sincerely,
