MISSION HILLS—The Ararat-Eskijian Museum and National Association for Armenian Studies and Research will present an illustrated talk by Aline Ohanesian, author of “Orhan’s Inheritance,” on Sunday September 20th, 2015, at 4PM. The Ararat-Eskijian Museum/Sheen Chapel is located at 15105 Mission Hills Road, Mission Hills CA 91345.

When Orhan’s brilliant and eccentric grandfather, who built a dynasty out of making kilim rugs, is found dead in a vat of dye, Orhan inherits the decades-old business. But his grandfather’s will raises more questions than it answers. Kemal has left the family estate to a stranger thousands of miles away, an aging woman in a retirement home (Ararat Home of  LA) in Los Angeles. Her existence and secrecy about her past only deepen the mystery of why Orhan’s grandfather would have left their home to this woman rather than to his own family.

Aline Ohanesian’s debut novel, Orhan’s Inheritance, was a finalist for the PEN Bellwether Award for Socially Engaged Fiction, an Indie Pick, an Amazon Editor’s Pick and a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Pick for spring 2015. Winner of the Toloyan Prize for literature, the novel has also been long listed for the Center for Fiction’s First Book Award. It is an international bestseller and has been translated into ten languages. Ohanesian, a descendant of genocide survivors, lives and writes in Orange County, California with her husband and two young sons. Her website is www.AlineOhanesian.com

Admission is free (donations appreciated). Book signing and reception to follow the program.
