FRESNO — The annual ARS Fresno “Sophia” Chapter Christmas Luncheon was held on December 13, 2015, at Pardini’s restaurant, in Fresno. This lovely event came to fruition with the zealous efforts of committee members headed by Chairlady Rozine Bedoyan and residing President Jane Knar Lanas. The event was blessed by Der Vahan Gosdanian. As a typical Armenian gathering there was plenty of food, dancing, and joviality. There was a delicious mezza and dessert table covered with items prepared and/or donated by the ARS members.
The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia Berj Apkarian was the anticipated Guest of Honor. Apkarian briefly recounted his visit to Armenia recently where he headed a group of Fresno physicians. In appreciation of their volunteer services for the Armenian Medical Mission, the committee invited these outstanding physicians as their guests to the luncheon. Apkarian was grateful for being part of this special event and shared warm thoughts and well wishes to the attendees.
After a fulfilling lunch provided by the Pardini’s restaurant, the DJ, Hye Vibe played some of our all-time great Armenian songs raising guests to their feet to merry dances. The festivities concluded with an exciting raffle where the guests won prizes again donated by the generous and dedicated ARS members. All holders of raffle tickets became proud owners of a handmade doll garbed in a traditional Armenian dress, brought from Armenia by Lanas. With the successful conclusion of this wonderful event, the unrivaled and hardworking ARS Fresno “Sophia” Chapter members are preparing for the upcoming annual Michink and Mother’s Day luncheon fundraisers.
