Benefactor Hank Khachaturian
GLENDALE—Veteran community activist and leader Varoujan Koundakjian visited the offices of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US Central Committee on Monday, December 28 and presented its chairman, Dr. Viken Hovsepian with a check for $125,000 from noted benefactor Hank Khachaturian as donation on the occasion of the ARF’s 125th anniversary.
In accordance to Khachaturian’s wishes, $25,000 of the amount was allocated to Asbarez, with the remaining $100,000 to be used by the ARF for its current projects and programs.
Khachaturian’s benevolence is well-known. The San Francisco Armenian Community Center is named after the benefactor for his generous donation of $1 million to the Krouzian-Zekarian Vasbouragan school.
Throughout the years, Khachaturian has contributed to the Western Prelacy and other organizations. His support for Armenia has also extended to projects in Artsakh, where, through the Armenia Fund, he has donated furnishings for all classrooms in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
