AL-HASAKEH (ARMENPRESS)—The body of Syrian-Armenian serviceman, Arsen Petrosyan, was found in Al-Hasakeh, Syria, Armenpress reports after learning about the discovery from a group of Armenians of Syria on Facebook.
According to the source, Arsen Petrosyan was killed in the neighborhood of Zuhur during an attack by Islamic State forces a few weeks ago. A sudden attack by the terrorist group forced Syrian defense forces to retreat. Petrosyan’s body was left behind and retrieved after the liberation of Al-Hasakeh.
Petrosyan had reportedly joined the Syrian National Defense Forces.
According to the UN, the war in Syria has killed over 220,000 people over the last four years, including over 100 Armenians.
