TELL POMPEO: #StopAliyev #RecognizeArtsakh

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is set to meet separately on Friday, October 23rd with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Make sure that – going into these meetings – Secretary Pompeo knows how outraged you are over U.S. inaction in response to Azerbaijan’s unprovoked attack and unrelenting bombing of Armenian civilians in Artsakh and Armenia.

Take these three steps today:

1) Call Secretary Pompeo’s office at (202) 647-4000

Leave a message asking him to recognize Artsakh, cut off military aid to Baku, and sanction Aliyev and Erdogan.

2) Tweet to Secretary Pompeo at @SecPompeo

Dear @SecPompeo: The US must immediately #RecognizeArtsakh; condemn Azerbaijan; cut off military aid to Baku; enforce Section 907, and; apply Global Magnitsky sanction to Aliyev and Erdogan.

3) Write to Secretary Pompeo at anca.org/WritePompeo

Here is a sample letter:

Dear Secretary Pompeo,

I am writing – amid war crimes being committed by Azerbaijan and its Turkish/ISIS allies against Armenian civilians – to demand that the United States:

1) Formally recognize the independence of the Artsakh Republic – based on history, law, humanitarian principles, and the right to remedial secession,

2) Forcefully and unequivocally condemn Azerbaijan and its Turkish/ISIS allies for their unprovoked attack and ongoing brutal assault on Artsakh and Armenia,

3) Immediately cut off all U.S. military assistance to the government of Azerbaijan, fully enforcing Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support Act, and

4) Enforce Global Magnitsky Sanctions against the Erdogan and Aliyev governments for documented war crimes against Armenians in Artsakh.

Thank you for your attention to these urgent concerns and for reporting on the specific steps you are taking to save Armenian lives.

Your generosity empowers our advocacy, inspires our work, and sustains our momentum.
