Crescenta Valley Armenian Community Commemorates September 11 Attacks

CRESCENTA VALLEY, California—The Crescenta Valley Armenian Community and Youth Center Outreach Committee along with community members and clergy visited the Glendale Fire Department Station #29 on Friday, September 11, 2015. Among the attendees were Crescenta Valley Town Council member, Harry Leon, and Chairman of the Crescenta Valley Armenian Community Center, Khachig Havatian. The purpose of the visit was to commemorate 9/11 victims and remember the brave firefighters.

A flag ceremony was conducted by the cadets in remembrance of the innocent lives that were lost on 9/11. Pastor Ghevont Kirazian from the Armenian Apostolic Church prayed for the souls of all those who perished that day, 14 years ago. The Committee Chairman, Hrayr Sherikian,  made remarks regarding the occasion and on behalf of the Crescenta Valley Armenian Community Center and its members  presented a certificate of honor to the fire station and captain, acknowledging their courageous and resilient effort and dedication to their community.
