YEREVAN (ARKA)—The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has completely halted the construction of a CSTO academy in Yerevan, Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha told Novosti-Armenia news agency.

In 2013, the CSTO Secretariat and Armenia’s National Security Council considered the possibility of building CSTO academy in Armenia as a training center for CSTO security units. According to Bordyuzha, a non-profit organization, the CSTO Academy Fund, was registered.

Bordyuzha said the idea was supported by Armenian authorities, who leased a former secondary school to the Fund. But the idea was not supported by all the CSTO member states, and, coupled with problems in financing the project, the parties agreed to halt construction in 2014.

Bordyzha said specialists for the organization’s security structures are being trained by military academies of CSTO member states.
