BURBANK—The dedication ceremony of the “Hagop and Knar Manjikian” Armenian Genocide Wing of the Aga-Sarkisian Library was held on Tuesday, August 11.

Following a short tour led by the Diocesan Librarian and Ecumenical Officer Hayk Madoyan, the members of the Manjikian family participated in the ceremony, which was officiated by the Diocesan Primate, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian. The ceremony was followed by the unveiling of the plaque.

In his remarks, the Primate commended the dedication of Mr. and Mrs. Hagop and Knar Manjikian for their life-long commitment toward the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. “With humility we recognize your selfless dedication which spans over decades and have loved you as an exceptional couple,” said His Eminence.

Following the ceremony, a light reception was held at the Primate’s office. Hagop Manjikian thanked Archbishop Derderian and Mr. Madoyan and, in their honor, recited the poem “Hayots Lerneroom” by Hovhanness Toumanian, one of his favorite poets.

Mr. and Mrs. Manjikian have donated a considerable number of valuable books to complement the rich collection of books at the Diocese.

The Manjikians are the publishers of the Armenian Genocide Library Collection (www.genocidememoirs.com), a series of Armenian Genocide memoirs written in Armenian and translated to English, in the hope of educating the young Armenian generation and English-speaking people of the world about the first Genocide of the 20th century.
