YEREVAN (NEWS.am)—Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with Bridget A. Brink, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State from the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs today in Yerevan, where they discussed Armenia’s cooperation with the U.S. in trade as well as the Karabakh conflict.

Nalbandian and Brink pointed to the inadmissibility of ceasefire violations along the line of contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan and along the Azerbaijan-Armenia border. They stressed that attempts to move the Karabakh issue to other formats are detrimental to the peace process, likely in reference to an anti-Armenian report recently accepted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) which Armenia, Artsakh, and the OSCE Minsk Group have condemned.

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told NEWS.am that Nalbandian expressed satisfaction with Armenia’s partnership with the U.S.

Brink, for her part, noted that the U.S. values relations with Armenia and looks forward to deepening them.

Nalbandian and Brink reflected on the prospects of the development of Armenian-American economic cooperation. Additionally, they discussed regional and international issues, the fight against terrorism, and avenues for resolving conflicts.

Brink praised Armenia’s contributions global security and engagement in peacekeeping missions in several countries. Nalbandian stressed that considerable progress had been achieved in bilateral relations between Armenia and the U.S. over the past years, opening up new perspectives for further reinforcement and expansion of cooperation.

“I’m proud that the U.S. is one of the largest direct investors in Armenia,” Brink said, voicing hope that such high-level meetings will help boost mutually beneficial cooperation.
