Czech Republic Foreign Ministers Edward Lubomír Zaorálek with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian
YEREVAN (ArmRadio.am)—Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had some harsh words for Baku, saying that Azerbaijan has failed in its campaign to use petro-dollars to curry favors from the West, and must face reality from its virtual world of oil money and caviar.
Nalbandian was speaking at joint press conference with visit Czech Republic Foreign Ministers Edward Lubomír Zaorálek, with who he had discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including the political dialogue, cooperation within international organizations, the legal framework, trade and economic relations.
Speaking about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Nalbandian said that Baku used the conflict to justify its own authoritarian system and violation of human rights.
He added, however, that the world was sick of Azerbaijan’s use of oil dollars. “A vivid example was a recent resolution adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where Azerbaijan failed,” he said.
“I think it’s time for Azerbaijan to return from the virtual world of oil and cavier to reality,” Nalbandian stated.
“The 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide marked a new stage, a new beginning in the irreversible process of international recognition,” Nalbandian said, when discussing the issue of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
He emphasized the fact that resolutions are being submitted to parliaments with the participation and support of all political forces. Among the recent cases the Foreign Minister stressed the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Bolivia, Austria, Luxemburg and Brazil.
“We value the statements from leaders of different countries. In this context I would like to emphasize the recent statements by the German President and the Belgian Prime Minister. I would like to stress once again that the process of recognition of the Armenian Genocide is irreversible,” he said.
