Register: Save Jerusalem’s Sacred Armenian Christian Quarter

A sacred treasure of the Holy Land – a pillar of Jerusalem’s Old City since the 4th Century – is facing existential threats and needs the support of Christian faithful from across America and around the world.

Join us live on Monday, January 27th, for a joint in-person and online briefing by leaders of the faith-based movement to save the Armenian Christian Quarter of Jerusalem, a treasure of global Christian heritage (and UNESCO World Heritage Site) in the heart of the Holy Land since established by Armenian Christian monks in the 4th Century.

Live Briefing from Washington, DC:
The Future of Jerusalem’s Armenian Christian Quarter
By Setrag Balian and Hagop Djernazian of Save the Arq
Monday, January 27th – 6:00 to 8:00 PM
at the Armenian National Committee of America
1711 N Street NW, Washington, DC 20036

Over the past two years, the Armenian Christian Quarter – one of four sections of Jerusalem’s Old City – has faced violent attacks by land developers and local extremists. They seek to drive out the ancient Armenian civic and spiritual institutions of this sacred space, replacing them with for-profit luxury hotels.

A local grassroots movement of Armenians, supported by fellow Christians and allied Israelis – Save the ArQ, has maintained a constant 24/7 presence in the Armenian Christian Quarter, bravely resisting repeated attempts – including armed and violent assaults – to destroy this treasure of global Christian heritage.

A Save the ArQ ally, Jerusalem-based Israeli attorney Daniel Seidemann, has explained that: “The Armenian community has been an integral part of Jerusalem since the 4th century CE. Jerusalem would not be Jerusalem without the Armenian Quarter.”
