11/24/19 - Sen. Murkowski posted the following to Facebook: "I was happy to join so many Alaskans at the Howard Rock & Ted Stevens Smokehouse Gala, which celebrates and recognizes the contributions of Alaska Native peoples and our friends in advancing our collective wellbeing. It is named in honor of Howard Rock (Iñupiaq) and Senator Ted Stevens as lifetime champions of Alaska Native peoples. During the Gala we celebrated the contributions of Dr. Pearl Kiyawn Nageak Brower (Iñupiaq/Chippewa/Armenian), Nelson Angapak (Yup’ik), and former Governor Bill Walker to the Alaska Native community, and for their commitment to improving the lives of our First Peoples. Thank you again to the awardees, to Indigenous Chef Nikki Graham (Yup’ik/Blackfoot Indian) for providing such amazing Alaska Native food, and to all those who continue to work tirelessly to enrich the lives of the Alaska Native community."
