STEPANAKERT (ARTSAKHPRESS)—Student registration at the new Tumo Center for Creative Technologies in Stepanakert began on Monday, September 14, 2015.
Registration for new students will continue on September 19, Artsakhpress reports. Along with the registration process, the center will also host meetings during which students, parents, and all others interested in Tumo will be able to learn about the center’s work, and the details concerning Tumo’s learning environment.
In an interview with Artsakhpress, Zara Budaghyan, Head of Communications at the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, noted that in order to become a Tumo member, applicants needed to be between the ages of 12-18, and have at least one parent or guardian who will consent to their participation in the center’s programs.
“The applicants aren’t examined and we do not rely on the applicant’s marks [grades] and knowledge,” added Budaghyan.
Tumo is a non-profit venture and participation in the Tumo program is free of charge and open to all local students. The Simonian Educational Foundation has partnered with the Armenian General Benevolent Union to open a Tumo Center for Creative Technologies in Stepanakert.
The Stepanakert program is expected to cater to 500 to 1,000 students who will participate twice a week for two hours per session, studying various technology-based skills like, animation, filmmaking, web and game development, as well as 3D modeling, computer programming, music, photography and graphic design.
