Update: Three-Year-Old Child Held Hostage at Armavir Kindergarten Freed by Police

ARMAVIR, Armenia (A.W.)—Armenian police have freed a three-year-old boy taken hostage by an unknown assailant armed with a knife at the Manushak kindergarten in the Armenian town of Armavir.

Police managed to persuade the hostage-taker to release the boy, after negotiations led by first deputy of Armenia’s national police Hunan Poghosyan. Police spokesman Ashot Agaronyan told reporters that the boy was unhurt in the incident. Police officers reportedly used a stun grenade to arrest the attacker immediately after the child was taken out of the room,

According to the police, the hostage-taken made certain “personal demands.” The police have not yet revealed the man’s name or identity.

Certain local reports indicated that the man is believed to be the former son-in-law of the kindergarten’s principal.
