Letter to President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken (Letters will be sent individually)
Dear President Biden / Secretary of State Blinken:
Amid the unfolding turmoil surrounding Syria’s transition, I am writing to ask our U.S. government to communicate in clear terms to Turkey and the new Syrian authorities that Armenians, other Christians, and all ethno-religious communities must be protected from acts of discrimination, persecution or violence. Muslims, Christians, Yezidis, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Arameans, Syriacs, Arabs, Kurds and all ethno-religious communities deserve human rights and lasting security within a pluralist and democratic Syria.
The U.S. government – having, directly and indirectly, backed the militias that are now governing Syria – bears a special responsibility to ensure the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian relief to at-risk populations – via existing local faith-based and civil society networks of community organizations.
