ANCA Rapid Responder Letter - Sanction Turkey and Azerbaijan

Letter to President Trump:

Dear Mr. President,

I am writing this urgent appeal to ask you to immediately instruct the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to enforce crippling sanctions against Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkish President Recep Erdogan, and their senior military leaders for wars crimes committed since September 27th of this year against civilians in both Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh.

Both Aliyev and Erdogan are demonstrably guilty of directing a premeditated surprise attack and sustained assault on civilians in Armenia and Artsakh. Clear video evidence from Artsakh and parts of Armenia document their deliberate and extensive targeting of civilians. They are both war criminals – who have recruited foreign jihadist terrorists to their anti-Armenian campaign – and should be treated as such by the U.S. Government.

I also encourage you to call on the U.S. House to immediately adopt, on a bipartisan basis, H.Res.1165 (as introduced), condemning Azerbaijan’s aggression, denouncing Turkey’s escalation, and cutting off all U.S. military or security aid to the Azerbaijani government.

I look forward to hearing of your actions on this urgent matter, which I will share widely with my friends, family, social network, and local community.

Sincerely,

Letter to Members of the U.S. House of Representatives:

Dear Representative:

I also encourage you to work with U.S. House Speaker Nancy and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to pass H.Res.1165 (as introduced), condemning Azerbaijan’s aggression, denouncing Turkey’s escalation, and cutting off all U.S. military or security aid to the Azerbaijani government.

I look forward to hearing of your actions on this urgent matter, which I will share widely with my friends, family, social network, and local community.
