ANCA Rapid Responder Letter: Urge Congress to Pass the ARMENIA Security Partnership Act

Letter to U.S. Representatives who have NOT COSPONSORED the ARMENIA Security Partnership Act

Dear Representative:

I am writing to urge you to cosponsor the ARMENIA Security Partnership Act (H.R.6840), introduced by Representatives Gus Bilirakis and Frank Pallone, supporting Armenia’s security and sovereignty and taking crucial steps to hold Azerbaijan accountable for its ongoing aggression against the Armenian people.

In 2023, Azerbaijan carried out a genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign against the 120,000 indigenous Armenians of Artsakh. Since then, it has occupied sovereign Armenian land, illegally detained Armenian prisoners, and destroyed Armenian churches and cultural heritage sites.

The ARMENIA Security Partnership Act enforces long-overdue accountability by prohibiting the President from waiving Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support Act unless Azerbaijan demonstrates concrete progress: withdrawing from Armenian territory, releasing hostages, ceasing hostilities, respecting the right of return of Artsakh Armenians, and preserving Armenian Christian and cultural heritage.

If these steps are not taken, the legislation would mandate a comprehensive review of Armenia’s defense needs and provide a roadmap for strengthening U.S.-Armenia security cooperation.

This is a necessary and principled step toward peace and justice in the South Caucasus. I respectfully ask you to co-sign the ARMENIA Security Partnership Act.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
