ANCA Rapid Responder Letter: Urge Your U.S. Representative to Vote YES on the Pallone Amendment to H.R.4373

Dear Representative:

I am writing to ask you to co-sponsor, actively endorse, and vote in favor of the Pallone Amendment (#113) to H.R.4373, the FY22 State-Foreign Operations Bill – a pro-peace measure blocking U.S. tax-payer subsidies to the army of the violent Aliyev regime of oil-rich Azerbaijan.

This common-sense measure seeks to withhold U.S. tax-dollars from Azerbaijan- in the form of International Military Education and Training (IMET) and Foreign Military Financing (FMF) Program appropriations – over its brutal attack on Armenians in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh), ongoing military occupation of Armenian territory, desecration of Christian holy sites, and torture of Armenian prisoners of war.

The bipartisan amendment – spearheaded by Representatives Frank Pallone, David Valadao, Jackie Speier, Adam Schiff, Brad Sherman, Judy Chu, and Anna Eshoo – reads as follows: “SEC. ll. None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act under ”International Military Education and Training” and ”Foreign Military Financing Program” may be made available for assistance for Azerbaijan.”

With every passing day and each new Azerbaijani cross-border attack, it’s increasingly clear why not a single U.S. tax dollar should ever be sent to the Azerbaijani dictatorship – a corrupt single-family dictatorship run by President Ilham Aliyev, a violently racist, anti-Armenian petro-monarch. The United States must not contribute, either directly or indirectly, to Azerbaijan’s military operations, activities, or capabilities.

Please do all in your power to pass the Pallone Amendment, to support the Speier Amendment (increasing U.S. military aid to Armenia), and stop all U.S. arms and aid to Azerbaijan.

Thank you for your attention to my concerns.

Sincerely,

Your generosity empowers our advocacy, inspires our work, and sustains our momentum.
