10/31/19 - Sen. Hassan posted the following to Facebook: "We have made important gains in the fight against ISIS — but even with the loss of ISIS’s caliphate and the killing of its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, we cannot become complacent in our efforts to eradicate this terrorist organization. I'm joining my colleagues from both sides of the aisle in supporting legislation to sanction Turkey, authorize humanitarian assistance for Syrian civilians, and require the development of a comprehensive plan to combat ISIS." 10/23/19 - Sen. Hassan posted the following to Facebook: "I'm appalled by the President's decision to lift what are already limited sanctions on Turkey — enacted after Turkey unilaterally launched a military offensive that killed scores of Kurdish soldiers and civilians. The Kurds fought alongside U.S. service members, helping us to make critical gains in the fight against ISIS. But the President’s actions have led to the escape of hundreds of ISIS soldiers who were held in prison by the Kurds and to critical territories in the region falling to Russia and Iran. We must enforce strong sanctions to protect our national security." View the Facebook post here.
