10/21/19 - Sen. Baldwin posted the following to Facebook: "I recently traveled to the Middle East and had an opportunity to meet with our Kurdish allies in Iraq and American troops from the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve. These service members, including some from Wisconsin, are a part of the mission to counter and defeat Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and the Kurds have been allies to them in Iraq, just as they have been to US troops in Syria.

Having made this visit to Iraq shortly before President Trump’s mistake to turn his back on the Kurds and give a greenlight to Turkey to invade Syria, I know what a dangerous mess the President has created for the region.

As conflict in the Middle East escalates, please keep our American troops in your thoughts. They face enormous challenges working in harm’s way and it’s important that we stand by them and their families as they serve." View the Facebook post here.
