New York, NY- In efforts to gain additional support for the Armenian Genocide Resolution, H Res. 106, ANCA activists throughout the Eastern Region continue to increase Congressional cosponsorship. The ANCA-ER office is mobilizing ANCA chapters throughout the eastern United States, motivating them to take part in the process.
With recent meetings with Congressmen Pitts and Walberg, the ANCA ER as joined with the Western Region’s Project Outreach WEstern Region (POWER) and has launched its POWER initiative: Project Outreach Waves the Eastern Region.
The 6 recent ER additions, that brings the total number of cosponsors to over 200, with close to two-thirds representing the Eastern Region. “Armenians throughout the region are coming in continuous waves. Every day we have new activists calling their Representatives urging them to sign on the legislation,” commented Karine Birazian, ANCA-ER Executive Director. ANCA activists throughout the region have also setup dozens of meetings with their representatives to discuss issues of concern to the Armenian community.
In conjunction with the POWER initiative in the West Coast, the recent outreach throughout the Eastern Region has significantly added to support of H. Res 106, as well as motivating them to become more on Armenian issues, as well as stop the ongoing genocide in Darfur. The ANCA-ER has over 16 chapters, including activists in hundreds of Congressional districts. The recent expansion of ANCA activism in North Carolina, as well as part of Ohio, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida had show the recent influx of the POWER initiative in the Eastern Region.
