WASHINGTON, DC — The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) met today with Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew to personally thank him for leading President Obama’s April 24th delegation to the international Armenian Genocide Centennial remembrance ceremony in Yerevan, and also to discuss the Treasury Department’s role in the further growth of the U.S.-Armenia economic relationship. During the meeting, the ANCA raised a number of policy priorities, including the mutual benefits of a new U.S.-Armenia Tax Treaty.
Joining Secretary Lew in the meeting were three of his senior aides who traveled with him to Armenia: Chief of Staff Chris Weideman, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Capital Markets Monique Rollins, and Spokesperson Whitney Smith. Also participating were policy experts, Bob Stack, Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Tax Affairs, and Matt Malloy and Stephan Vitvitsky, both from the Office of Europe and Eurasia. The ANCA was represented by Executive Director Aram Hamparian, Government Affairs Director Kate Nahapetian, and Legislative Affairs Director Raffi Karakashian.
The Presidential delegation representing the United States at the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan, in addition to Secretary Lew, included U.S. Representatives Anna Eshoo (D-CA), Frank Pallone (D-NJ), Jackie Speier (D-CA), and Dave Trott(R-MI).
