The decision came after a thorough candidate selection process, which included meetings with candidates, an examination of each candidate’s track record with regards to issues of concern to the Armenian-American community as well as their position on key issues facing the State of California.
“As Congressman Brad Sherman’s District Chief of Staff and Senior Aide for the last nine years, I have developed a strong working relationship the American Armenian community in the West San Fernando Valley. I look forward to strengthening the relationship I have built with the American Armenian community in the West San Fernando Valley as a member of the California State Assembly,” added Dababneh.
Topics covered during the meetings included the present political climate in Sacramento, economic conditions and improvement in the Valley, as well as, issues of interest to the Armenian American community such as further fostering the long standing cooperation between the Armenian American community and legislators in the California Assembly, increasing scrutiny on the proliferation of the Magnolia Charter schools in California, and increasing opportunities for Armenian Americans in the civic and political forum.
“After a thorough process in which the ANCA North and West Valley Chapters of the Western Region met with top tier candidates in this race, our two chapters and the communities it represents fully endorse Matt as the best qualified candidate to represent the Armenian-American interests in the California State Assembly,” stated Nareg Kitsinian, Chairman of the West Valley ANCA Chapter.
