GLENDALE, CA — Representatives of the Armenian National Committee of America –Western Region held a meeting with Los Angeles City Councilmember Laura Chick, on Wednesday, February 21, to discuss a variety of issues concerning the Armenian American community in Los Angeles, particularly that of the West San Fernando Valley.
During the meeting the sides discussed a number of concerns, including at-risk youth issues, gang violence, drugs and educational issues, particularly the inclusion of Armenian Genocide curriculum in public schools’ history classes. Among other things, ANCA-WR representatives thanked Chick for her continued support for various community projects.
“Councilmember Chick has always maintained an open-door policy with her constituency and the Armenian National Committee,” said ANCA-WR Executive Director Alex Sardar. “She continues to be a leader in her community, and she has at all times offered her support for a variety of community concerns and programs.”
Councilmember Chick, who is a candidate for the office of Los Angeles City Controller, was joined by her Executive Assistant Lynne Amerian and representing the ANCA-WR were Chairman Steven J. Dadaian, Board Member Vicken Sonentz-Papazian, and Executive Director Alex Sardar.
