LAS VEGAS, NV – During the summer of 2008 Carnie Armenian had the opportunity to intern at Senator John Ensign’s (R-NV) office in Las Vegas, Nevada. Spending the summer in contact with Nevada constituents, Armenian gained valuable knowledge and experience of government functions at the state level.

“Senator Ensign’s internship program is an excellent opportunity for students to get involved in the community and to directly experience politics in Nevada,” stated Armenian. “This internship helped me understand how our government works throughout the state,” she added.

Carnie Armenian currently attends the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) as a second-year Architecture student. With her studies she is also active in Homenetmen as the Las Vegas “Artsakh” scouts troop leader and is a founding member of the newly established AYF “Sosse Mayrig” chapter.

“The Senator’s internship program has provided me with valuable skills I plan to use in my future line of work,” stated Armenian. “I strongly encourage our Armenian youth to be involved wherever possible. Whether it is working for The Armenian Cause with AYF, participating with Homenetmen Scouting, or interning in your community there is a lot to learn and the time is now,” she added.

The ANC of Nevada advocates for the social, economic, cultural, and political rights of the area’s Armenian American community and promotes increased Armenian American civic participation at the grassroots and public policy levels.
